November Focus On…LC Lasers
This month we are focusing on the exciting world of Laser Welding and the latest laser machine by LC Lasers. LC Lasers is an industrial manufacturing company dedicated to design, build and market all types of equipment and solutions in the laser world. LC currently focuses on three main sectors in the industrial laser world: laser welding, laser cleaning and laser marking.
LC Lasers
Our focus at Rapid has always been to source the best products and keep in line with the latest technology the industry has to offer, with the aim of meeting demand and bringing more efficient and versatile welding solutions to our customers.
This summer, following a visit to Spain to meet with LC Lasers, we expanded our product offering into Laser Welding. Not only do LC Lasers pride themselves on their European manufacturing, but they also offer exemplary customer support and service, which match Rapid’s own very high standards and commitment.
One of the most modern welding methods, Laser technology has seen some incredible advancements, with efficiency, speed and high versatility being the main characteristics.
In simple terms, a laser beam melts and recrystallises the material being joined or welded (materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, galvanised sheet and aluminium) using a very focused, reduced heat input. This method of welding can replace arc welding, electric welding or other welding processes, and has many advantages, such as low fume generation, reduced consumable usage, completion of small, detailed seams, as well as reduce deformation. Laser welding does not require highly skilled labour, yet it enables high-quality welds to be produced at incredible speed.

Laser Cleaning
Laser Cleaning can be used for the removal of dust, rust, paint, grease, oils and limescale, from a variety of surfaces. This type of work meets the needs of a range of industries on both small and large scale projects, such as cleaning automotive parts or steel containers, as well as antique restoration. The LC-CLEAN P is a state-of-the-art cleaning solution which can be configured to perform any job without damaging the base surface of the object.
This type of cleaning eliminates the need for harsh descaling chemicals, abrasives or contaminants, but still achieves effective industrial cleaning, bringing back to life old parts. Laser cleaning equipment is very easy to operate with a few simple instructions, with a wide range of settings for each cleaning job.
An area where Laser Welding is becoming increasingly more popular is the automotive and restoration sector. Working with old parts means precision cleaning is key, and LC-CLEAN reduces the risk of damage to the part as the laser is set up for accuracy.
We’re very excited to announce that we are taking receipt of an LC Lasers LC-Clean P 300W Laser Cleaning Machine for use in our Portsmouth Demo Zone, so you can experience the technology first hand.
Demonstrations will be available from January 2025 onwards, so please email andrew.doe@rapidwelding.com to book.
