In April this year, Rapid will be 35 years old, and so much has changed since brothers Roy, an Aircraft Approved Welder, and Rob, a Ministry Approved Senior Design Engineer, started the company from scratch in 1990. Back then, Rapid sold equipment from companies such as Norman Butters, T & R Welding Electrodes and Hornell Speedglas. Familiar names like Kemppi, Parweld and Harris were also key suppliers from the outset, and with whom Rapid has continued to have solid partnerships.
Fun fact, the first welding torches Rapid sold were from Parweld, with their new PXL range of guns!
As the company grew, so did Rapid’s product range, and the need for a bigger, better online presence. Today, the Rapid Welding website averages just over 1,000 users per day and has more than 50,000 products to choose from.
Among Rapid’s most popular buys of 2024, the Lincoln Electric BesterMIG 200-S range literally flew off the shelves, along with workshop staples like welding helmets, gloves, clamps and welding screens. Hypertherm, Kemppi, ESAB and CK Worldwide products feature, as well as newer additions to Rapid’s portfolio, such as Bessey.
