We Asked AI About Rapid Welding. Here’s What It Said.

These days, people don’t just search Google when they’re looking for something or need a recommendation.

It’s becoming more common to open ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI tool. Some people even ask AI before asking their colleagues or friends – and depending on your colleagues or friends, that may be the sensible thing to do.

That said, when it comes to finding a reliable welding equipment supplier, knowing a bit about them is no bad thing. And while we could tell you about Rapid all day long, we decided it would be fun to ask AI instead.

It’s a slightly strange experience to ask AI about your own company. Somewhere between doing market research and overhearing what people say about you when you leave the room.

But we kept things simple, crossed our fingers, and asked:
“Tell us about Rapid Welding, and would you recommend them to a welder?”

Here’s what we found out…

Not Just About Selling Products

Many online suppliers are essentially digital shelves. You search, you click, you hope you’ve ordered the right thing.

What stood out to AI was that Rapid seems to sit slightly differently within that online shopping category. Rather than simply processing orders, the focus appears to be on helping people understand their options and feel confident in what they’re buying.

Whether you’re shopping for a replacement TIG torch, a new multi-process welder, or comparing welding rods, having easy access to people who know the products can turn half an hour of research into a two-minute telephone conversation – useful, especially when you’re staring at ten like-for-like products in your shopping basket.

Everything You Could Possibly Need and More

AI also picked up something else: Rapid is big on products.

Yes, Rapid is big on products – products galore, in fact. But one thing we’ve learnt is that huge product choice is brilliant… until it isn’t.

With over 50,000 products available on Rapid’s website, there’s certainly no shortage – but it only works if you can easily find what you need. Nobody ever finished online shopping and thought, “That was enjoyable; I wish it had taken longer.”

We’ve worked hard to make Rapid’s website organised and simple to use, and we’re still refining it every day. It’s something we and our web team are very proud of.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock

And then there are timescales.

Having all the products is one thing. Knowing they’ll be shipped without delay is another.

In welding, “I need it quickly” usually means “ideally now”.

Rapid carries a huge amount of stock so that orders can be turned around fast. For local customers, there’s also a trade counter for occasions when popping in is preferred.

MIG welders, gas regulators, a bulk order of wire brushes – whatever’s on the shopping list, it helps to know you can get it when you need it.

First Impressions Matter

Another thing AI picked up on was longevity.

In an industry where companies come and go, a business that’s been serving welders since 1990 gives the reassurance of consistency and adaptability.

AI recognised that lasting 35 years in business is no accident.

Customers have to keep coming back, year after year, which is harder to achieve than it sounds.

The Verdict

AI kept circling the same themes:

  • Experience
  • Reliability
  • Choice
  • Expertise
  • Availability

Basically, the background things that matter when you’re trying to weld without drama.

Algorithms may power AI, but its recommendations are built from information shared across websites, customer experiences, and company history – a much more rounded view than if we’d asked, say, Roy Edwards the same question.

So, in answer to, “Tell us about Rapid Welding and would you recommend them to a welder?”

AI concluded:
“Not because of pricing or longevity alone, but because it combines a broad product range, strong stock availability, real industry experience, and a consistent focus on helping people make confident choices – which is why it would be recommended.”

In a world where more buying decisions are starting with AI, we’ll take that as a pretty good sign.

And if robots are already forming opinions, it’s good to know they’re saying nice things about Rapid.
