Customer Focus: British engineering company, A.J Wells
We’ve been delighted to complete a recent order with British engineering company, A.J Wells; a family firm based on the Isle of Wight, Newport.
The company has grown over the last 50 years to now specialise in the manufacture and installation of signage, cladding and vitreous enamel furniture and surfaces, and Charnwood Stoves, specialising in the design and manufacture of wood burning stoves and accessories.
Ten members of the family now work at A.J Wells.
Currently, they’re making the news on BBC South!
One of the projects pinging them onto the television screens is with Crossrail, making signs for the new London Underground Elizabeth line, which is expected to open soon.
A.J Wells were selected to undertake this project due to their wealth of knowledge in creating fire resistant products – one of their specialities, of course, being wood burning stoves. The company were able to take their wealth of experience and apply it to the creation of the new underground signs.
All work – including cutting and powder-coating, was carried out at their Isle of Wight facility.
The brief was to create a unique, fire-resistant sign, but one that was instantly recognisable as belonging to the Underground Network. We think they’ve achieved that perfectly, and we are very proud to have played a small part in making this iconic project happen by supplying a fleet of Lincoln Powertec i320C MIG Inverter Welder Packages.
For those of you who use the London Underground, keep an eye out in the near future for the new signs!
