A lot has been made of the so called "Olympic Legacy", and as well as encompassing the purpose built landmarks of the Olympic Stadium, the Velodrome, and the development of sport within schools, a new, Olympic inspired drive, seems to have seeped into all kinds of businesses and industry sectors.

The Welding World magazine this month was crammed with news on opportunities for the next generation of welders, created within the industry by the industry.

The BOC Apprentice Welder of the year, 'aimed at recognising the best trainee and apprenctices and encouraging more young people to take up welding as a career' came to conclusion in October this year.

Kemppi has launched a series of bespoke welder training courses 'for companies and individuals at any level of welding proficiency.

The Skills Show, running November 15th -17th at Birmingham NEC and sponsored by Lincoln Electric, is the UK's largest careers event of any kind and will provide the opportunity to speak to some of the biggest providers in apprenticships, skills and carrees. Boy Scouts can work towards attaining a Welding Merit badge.
