In this month’s edition we are covering the details of our first ever Rapid Welding Wednesday Demonstration Day, our latest summer offer on Hypertherm Hand Systems and the winner of our latest Welding Wizardry Competition.
As you may have seen on our Social Media channels, we have a series of exciting hands-on demonstrations planned with Lincoln Electric and our ‘Sparks & Spatter’ resident welder, Mikala Eade.
The first event will take place on 31st July 2024 at our Hedge End depot between 10am to 4pm, when Mikala will be on hand to demonstrate, meet and chat with anyone about a range Lincoln Electric UK welding products, and in particular this month we’ll be showcasing the Tomahawk 30 and Tomahawk 45 Plasma Cutters.

Why Plasma?
When gas is ionised by electrical energy, plasma is created, along with intense temperatures of up to 22,000 degrees Celsius. HYPERTHERM®’s Powermax® systems utilise plasma to melt metal, along with compressed air, nitrogen or F5 gas to blow the molten metal away leaving, in most cases, a ready-to-weld clean edge. This same system can also be used for metal gouging and is very versatile, cutting and gouging all electrically conductive metal including stainless steel and aluminum.

8mm Cut – The smallest & lightest system in its class is the Powermax® 30 AIR
A professional-grade plasma system featuring an internal air compressor for high portability and quick, easy cutting. The robust internal compressor eliminates the costs associated with an external compressor and allows for operation anywhere, making it an effective alternative to oxyfuel cutting. Coupled with the highly effective moisture removal system, the Powermax® 30 AIR provides great cut quality and performance in hot and humid conditions.
10mm Cut – The new Powermax® 30XP
Is a lightweight, portable plasma cutter offering a 50% increase in power from the Powermax® 30. With its two-in-one design, the system provides high-power capability for thick metal cutting, plus FineCut consumables for detailed, thin metal cutting.
16mm Cut – The newest member of Hypertherm’s Powermax® Plasma range is the Powermax45 SYNC
Representing the most versatile system yet! Featuring advanced torch communication for automated setup, and patented single-piece cartridges for hand cutting, mechanised or robotic cutting, marking, or gouging. Recommended cut capacity of 16 mm (5/8″) and severance capacity of 29 mm (1 1/8″).
20 / 25 / 32mm Cut – Powermax® 65 / 85 / 105 SYNC
