Customer

Gary, thanks for dealing with this so quickly and efficiently. Between the two of you this is by far the customer service i've ever had!

Gary

Thanks for your investigations re this issue for Pete, I really could not see anything obvious that Pete was doing wrong here, except the obvious that we have all thought of, including leaks & drawing in atmosphere etc, which appears not to be the case.

It’s obvious that Pete is certainly not daft, & is an experienced welder & is fully clued up about what he is doing here, so it will be interesting to find out why the 8CB is playing up.

I will happily add the free of charge torches to Pete’s next order for him, & thank you for the unrivalled back up that comes from CK for all our customers here in the UK.

Jeff

Thanks for your input. No you are not daft. You have brought to our attention something of an anomaly. It was interesting going between the 8CB and the 8GL in the weld tests using a 2.4mm tungsten. A smaller cup will not help in my opinion. We tried different liters per minute with various unsuccessful results using the 8CB. Using the 8GL we didn't have any issues.

One point of interest, we have always had the same design in the 8CB and nozzle configuration for the last 47 years and we have not had any issues that would warrant any significant redesign. Doesn't mean to say something hasn't changed in that time. Looking at any quality issues regarding the 8CB, I haven't found anything. We sell a good amount of the 8CB series so the users of them are satisfied.

With that being said, I have 2 solutions. I would like to offer 2 torch packages for you to try. The first one is our Micro torch and the other is a Flex Loc with a large diameter clear nozzle that you can stick out the tungsten about 2 inches if you turn up the flow rate on gas to about 15 liters per minute. This large stick out will let you access areas that you wouldn't need a small torch.

Don't get me wrong, I will still do weld tests to see what is going on with your torch and the 8CB issue.

At the end of the day, this is why you deal with Gary at Rapid Welding and CK.

Gary, add the following at no charge to your next order for Pete:
