Sadly, the organised walk for Sunday, 10<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;May, was cancelled this year due to the pandemic, but with a few tweaks to meet current social distancing measures, the&nbsp;event was able to continue, and&nbsp;&#8216;Walk the Wight&#8217; became&nbsp;\u2018Walk the Wight Your Way\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n<style>.kb-image258_6f6379-77 .kb-image-has-overlay:after{opacity:0.3;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-image kb-image258_6f6379-77\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/rapidweldingbl.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/marianne2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"kb-img wp-image-259\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<style>.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44\"]{text-align:center;font-style:normal;}.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44 mark.kt-highlight, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44\"] mark.kt-highlight{font-style:normal;color:#f76a0c;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px;}<\/style>\n<p class=\"kt-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44 wp-block-kadence-advancedheading\" data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_4c80ff-44\">As an added bonus, participants are allowed to sign up their dogs to take part, too, receiving their own number, bandana and a medal. This was too good an opportunity to pass up for Marianne. Making this&nbsp;challenge extra special, Marianne was accompanied by Scarlet, her&nbsp;beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback and regular training partner. Together, these six legs covered the&nbsp;distance of 26.2 miles from&nbsp;East (Bembridge) to West (Alum Bay).<\/p>\n\n\n<style>.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6\"]{text-align:center;font-style:normal;}.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6 mark.kt-highlight, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6\"] mark.kt-highlight{font-style:normal;color:#f76a0c;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px;}<\/style>\n<p class=\"kt-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6 wp-block-kadence-advancedheading\" data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_e04d3e-d6\">Incredibly well organised, walkers were provided&nbsp;with maps of accessible routes on the island, meaning the event was able to continue in spirit and enabling participants to raise money and support this great cause; which each year raises around \u00a3250,000!<\/p>\n\n\n<style>.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b\"]{text-align:center;font-style:normal;}.wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b mark.kt-highlight, .wp-block-kadence-advancedheading.kt-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b[data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b\"] mark.kt-highlight{font-style:normal;color:#f76a0c;padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px;}<\/style>\n<p class=\"kt-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b wp-block-kadence-advancedheading\" data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading258_5a8a87-4b\">A bit of trivia for you: To date, Scarlet and Marianne have each walked a whopping 214 miles &#8211; enough to have walked around the Island coastal path (67 miles), North to South (13 miles) and East to West (24 miles) &#8230;..
